The Rhone-Alpes, being a major European transit hub, links northern France and Europe to the Mediterranean. The department of Savoie benefits by the status of the region and thus is very close to some big international airports, which facilitate arrivals and departures.

By plane
The only airport which services the department of Savoie is the Chambery Airport, which is served by a number of cheap airlines which fly to most major European cities. Other airports near the department include Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva.
By train
The most accessible train station in Savoie is of course that of Chambery. The station receives daily TGV connections from Paris as well as other train connections from allover the region. Also there are a number of high speed trains that can bring you into the region in a matter of hours from such far flung places as Belgium and Germany.
By car
The towns of Savoie are well connected by roads with the neighboring areas. Motorways like A43 and A41 link the cities of Chambery and Aix-les-Bains in Savoie to Lyon, Grenoble, Annecy, Geneva and Torino, near the department.
Get around
If you’re not traveling by car, then the most convenient way to access these sites from major airports and train stations is by taxi. Chambery Airport features a handy multi-lingual taxi service, which can provide drivers fluent in English, German, Spanish and other European languages. Another less convenient but also less expensive option are the SAT buses.
