Savoie is a major skiing region in France, but it is also host to many wonderful events, some not even related to skiing. Such events are the Savoy Fair and of course the Festival on Lake Bourget dedicated to classical romantic composers.

The Romantic Nights Festival on Lake Bourget
Info: The idea of a romantic music festival at Aix-les-Bains, dates back to 1992, when, by organizing the Winter Olympics, Savoie is placed under the spotlight. Since then, each year the festival, in a musical journey of a dozen concerts, explores the work of romantic composers: Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms, Cesar Franck and many others.

World Speed Skiing
Info: Arguably the most spectacular event in the winter sports calendar, the grand final of the speed skiing season returns to its spiritual home in Les Arcs. A kamikaze nightmare to some, a heroic pursuit to others, the discipline has been a specialty at Les Arcs since the resort was assigned the event during the Albertville Olympics in 1992.
