Attractions
Savoie presents many attractions related to the house of Savoy. Two such distinct sites are the Abbaye Hautecombe and the Chateau Chambery which are the oldest Savoyard buildings.

Notre Dame Church
Info: The church Notre-Dame-des-Eaux is located in downtown Aix-les-Bains. An architectural competition was organized to design the church building and was won by Arthur Bertin. The construction was entrusted to the company Bonna.

Abbaye d’Hautecombe
Info: This is the spiritual centerpiece of the French Alps and the mausoleum of many princes of the House of Savoy. It was built by a succession of monks, beginning in the 1100s, from the Citeaux, Cistercian, and Benedictine orders.

Town Hall
Info: The building which has been carefully crafted from stone and using local building methods was designed to give a powerful impression to all those who pass it, and in that it has succeeded. It is regarded as one of the finer pieces of architecture in the small but extremely well known Alpine town.

Chateau de Chambery
Info: The first counts of Savoy settled into an existing fortress in 1285 and expanded it in the early 14th century to serve as residence, seat of power and administration, and stronghold for the House of Savoy.
